HAND DYED PAPER PROCESS
The majority of my flowers are created using hand dyed crepe paper. I love the process of creating a new and unique colour combination and it can never be predicted how a batch of dyed paper is going to turn out. The final results are different everytime, which lends itself beautifully to creating a unique bloom. Like nature, no two flowers are ever the same and this is what I love to recreate in my paper flowers.
The papers are dyed in small batches and the process usually takes around 24- 48 hours. I use a variety of mediums to die the papers. This can be by extracting colour from scraps of crepe paper and mixing them with water or acrylic inks & food dye. I also really like to use natural dyes like tea, coffee, avacado and herbs.
The process I decide to use to dye the papers usually depends on the type of flower or project I am working on.
After the dying process, the papers are left to dry naturally and then if they need any extra depth and detail adding, they are dyed for a second time or handpainted.
Every flower has its own unique colour and detail and this means every bloom that is created by me, for you, will be one of a kind.

Please take a look through the gallery to see all the blooms that have been created so far. New and exciting flowers and foliage are being handcrafted and added on a regular basis.
Whether you are looking for a wedding bouquet that lasts forever, a show stopping installation, or a personalised gift that speaks from the heart, anything is possible at The Paper Flower Boutique.
